JoMerriel Townsel

JoMerriel Townsel passed away in her home on September 26, 2025. She lived most of her life as a resident of Gary, Indiana, where she was born on January 9,1941. She attended Froebel High School and was a member of the Saint's Home COGIC congregation. JoMerriel spent the latter half of her life in service to others, working as a home health care aide, performing the role of caregiver for her ailing mother, and most recently helping with her great-grandchildren. She seemed to know someone everywhere she went and had a smile and helping hand for everyone. In her later years, she enjoyed spending time playing bingo with her many friends at Serenity Lake and doting on her loving family.
JoMerriel is preceded in death by her parents, Irene and William Long and her brother, Denver (Joan) Long. She is survived by her son, Kenneth (Cynthia) Townsel, grandson, Kenneth (Liliana) Townsel, and great-grandchildren Kailani Rose and Kenneth John. She will be missed by her extended family, as well as numerous friends and church members.
