Jon Kraus

It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that the family of Jon Kraus, age 64, need to announce his sudden passing and return to the comfort of Our Lord's embrace. He passed away peacefully at home in Sheridan, IN on January 22, 2026.
Jon and his identical twin brother, Paul, were born on 12/15/1961 in Monroe, MI. He was the youngest son born to Charles T. Kraus and Helen M(Durocher)Kraus.
He attended grade school and high school in Monroe, MI, graduating from Monroe High School in 1980. The following fall, he moved to Indianapolis, IN to attend Lincoln School of Technology, graduating with a certificate in Automobile Technology. He subsequently obtained an Associate's Degree in Information Technology. Jon took an IT position at a company that later became Navient. He thrived there and was quite proud of his accomplishments, and during his 30+ years there rose to the position of Technical Architect. He got his Bachelor's Degree of Science in Business from Indiana Wesleyan University Magna Cum Laude in 2009. Another of his great accomplishments was becoming an instrument rated private pilot.
Jon married Jill Taylor on a sunny afternoon and from that union came the birth of beautiful twin girls, Jenna and Jacey. His girls brought him immense joy. He would beam from ear to ear when he spoke of them. He loved to laugh and kid with his daughters and friends. He was quite the jokester. His passion for music led him to a neighborhood band called The Lakeshoremen, then to The Rock Garage where he sang and played guitar with The Pilot Lights, then The Foglies. He made lots of friends there and always had blast with them.
He was a dedicated member of Alcoholics Anonymous for over 30 years. He was a group leader and a sponsor to those in need. He was always grateful for the lessons he learned and the support he received.
Jon is survived by his daughters Jenna and Jacey and his two sisters Deborah (Debbie) Kraus and Mary Kraus-Leppanen, DVM. He also leaves 5 nephews and 2 nieces to mourn his passing. He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers Charles II(Chuckie) and his twin Paul.
