Jon Michael Reynolds

1940 - 2026

Jon Michael "Mickey" Reynolds, 85, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on February 14, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born in Chattanooga and raised in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Jon grew up with a mind that never stopped reaching for understanding. That curiosity became the thread that ran through every chapter of his life. He graduated from Harvard College in 1962 and earned his MBA from Rutgers in 1963, beginning a long and accomplished career in business and finance. His work took him from New York to Dallas, and he held leadership roles at Price Waterhouse, Citicorp, Salomon Brothers, CSFB First Boston, Mayfair Capital, and Suncoast Plastics before moving into private investing and advisory work.

But Jon was never defined by his titles. What truly set him apart was the way he thought, the way he listened, and the way he cared.

Jon was a lifelong learner in the truest sense. He believed that understanding history helped make sense of the present, that science and mathematics revealed the beauty of the universe, and that philosophy and spirituality spoke to the needs of the human heart. He was an avid reader. He questioned. He was curious, and was always connecting ideas in ways that made conversations with him feel expansive and alive. Five minutes with Jon could make you feel understood, valued, and seen. He had a gift for meeting people exactly where they were, with compassion, curiosity, and genuine interest. He was at peace with earthly life and the spiritual world.

He was a devoted husband to Sarah Grace Detwiler Reynolds, his partner, confidante, and the great love of his life. Their bond was one of deep respect, shared humor, and a mutual commitment to growing together.

As a father, Jon cared deeply for his children and wanted each of them to feel supported in their own paths. His love showed up in thoughtful conversations, in quiet encouragement, and in the way he tried to offer wisdom without imposing it. He was proud of each of them in his own steady, heartfelt way.

One of Jon's greatest joys in his later years was becoming a grandfather. He cherished the time he spent with Bonnie Reynolds and Theodore "Teddy" Reynolds, delighting in their curiosity, their laughter, and the chance to share with them the wonder he saw in the world.

Jon is survived by his wife, Sarah Grace Detwiler Reynolds; his children Douglas (Kimberly) Reynolds, Caroline Reynolds, Elliot Reynolds, and Nicholas (Natalie) Reynolds, his grandchildren Bonnie Reynolds and Theodore "Teddy" Reynolds; and his sister, Karen Carver. His legacy lives on in the minds he inspired, the hearts he touched, and the countless people who felt enriched simply by knowing him.

Strongly believing in science Jon donated his body to Southwestern Medical School. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
