Jona Kay Brewer, aged 76, passed away on January 25, 2026, in Ashdown, AR. Born on October 6, 1949, Jona pursued a life enriched with dedication to her passions and service to her country.
Following her early education in Muleshoe, Texas, Jona earned a Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. Her professional career as a natural gas engineer spanned across Oklahoma, Nebraska, Iowa, and Kansas.
Jona served honorably in the Army.
An avid lover of nature and animals, Jona was an active volunteer for the Master Gardener's program, nurturing plants and flowers with as much care as she did her beloved cat, Stella, who provided companionship until her last moments. Her love for the outdoors and living creatures defined much of her leisure time.
Jona is survived by her sister, Goldialu Goucher Stone, and niece, Sharalynn Stone Sullivan, both residing in the Albuquerque, NM area. She leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and service.
A veteran of the Army, Jona will be laid to rest at the Santa Fe National Veterans Cemetery this spring. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your favorite animal charity in memory of Jona's love for animals.
