With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jose Guerrero, who left this world on February 12 after a short but courageous battle with leukemia. He was 73 years old.
Jose was born on July 28, 1952, in Fresnillo, Zacatecas, Mexico. At a young age he came to the United States, where he would go on to build a life defined by hard work, service, and deep devotion to family.
In 1972, he proudly joined the United States Air Force, serving as an aircraft mechanic. He carried immense pride in his military service and the role he played in supporting his country. After retiring from the Air Force, Jose continued working in various government positions, customer service, and finally entrepreneurship.
Jose had a true gift for connecting with people. He never met a stranger — only friends he hadn’t yet made. His natural warmth and ability to make others feel welcome eventually led him and his beloved wife to open their own small business, which became one of his greatest passions. If you visited his home even once, you were instantly family. His door was always open.
Even in his final months, Jose fought bravely. He never gave up. His strength came from the deep love he had for his three children, 13 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. They were his motivation, his pride, and his greatest joy.
Jose is survived by his devoted wife, Teresa Madrid Guerrero; his three children: Jose and Shanley Guerrero of Arizona, Antonio Guerrero and his partner Samantha Podobnik of Montana, and Jacqueline and Jason Ramos of New Mexico. His 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, with another precious blessing on the way.
He was preceded in death by his father, David “Jack” Honeycutt; his mother, Consuelo “Connie” Espinoza Honeycutt; his sister, Barbara Espinoza; and his granddaughters, Alexis Guerrero and Isabella Guerrero.
Jose’s life was one of resilience, service, entrepreneurship, and unwavering love. His legacy lives on in the laughter of his grandchildren, the strength of his children, and the countless lives he touched with his kindness. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
