Jose Pacheco

Dr. Jose Rafael Pacheco, 89, of Miami Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026. Born on May 24, 1936, in Havana, Cuba, he was forced to leave his homeland during a time of upheaval and carried its spirit with him for the rest of his life.

With determination and the unwavering support of his family, Dr. Pacheco earned his medical degree from New York University and the University of Granada in Spain. He went on to become a highly respected obstetrician-gynecologist and surgeon, practicing for decades at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Thousands of babies entered the world under his care, some of them the children of mothers he had delivered years earlier. His private practice became a beloved cornerstone of the community.

Devoted to his family, Dr. Pacheco was a loving son, father, grandfather, and husband. He is survived by his wife, Susan; his son, Richard; daughter-in-law, Rebecca; and beautiful grandchildren, Isabel (12) and Rafael (9). He was predeceased by his first wife, the mother of Richard, who passed in 1993.

Those who knew him will remember a man who truly knew how to live- someone who loved deeply and simply, faced life with equanimity, and left an enduring legacy through both his family and the countless lives he touched.

Dr. Jose Rafael Pacheco will be deeply missed and remembered with love by generations.
