Joseph P Conte

Joseph P Conte passed away at age 81 on Sunday, January 25th of 2026 in Naples, FL where he resided for several years. Joe was born on November 11, 1944 in Connecticut and was the son of James & Margaret Conte. Joe was born and raised in Hamden where he had many aunts, uncles, cousins and lifelong friends. He moved from Hamden to Madison, Connecticut where he and his wife, Cheryl (Toole) Conte, resided for several years until her passing in March of 1999.
Joe graduated from Hamden High School where he played basketball, football and baseball. He then attended and graduated from University of Miami where he continued to play baseball.
Joe taught school in Hamden and also coached numerous sports. Joe worked in sales very successfully for many years and ultimately opened his own paper & printing company.
Joe loved his game of golf and spent many years making many friends at Clinton Country Club in Connecticut and Royal Palm Golf Club in Naples, Florida.
Joe was predeceased by his wife Cheryl, his parents Margaret and James, his loving Aunt, Ann Palmieri, as well as many other aunts, uncles and cousins and his beloved dog Willy.
Joe is survived by his loving girlfriend, Joyce Santamaria of Naples & Port Saint Lucie, FL, his cousins Tom (Arlene) Palmieri of Connecticut, Marie Palmieri of Connecticut and Florida, his sisters in law, Kathy Probst, Patty Hall, Judy Eskola, Betty Ann Toole and brother in law David Toole, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass and celebration of Joe's life will be held in the future in Madison, CT. Joe was a big supporter of Special Olympics. Donations in his name would be welcome in lieu of flowers.
