Joe was born in Bayonne, New Jersey on July 14, 1943. His family moved to Bridgeport when he was young and that is where he grew up. He attended St. Michael’s School, Bassick High School and the University of Bridgeport. He moved to California in the 70’s but returned to Connecticut in later years.
Joe was a Social Worker for the State of Connecticut and California for many years. He worked with teenagers and organized sports activities for them. He especially liked to work with kids who needed direction in their life and was happy to share his love of sports with them. Joe loved softball and basketball and played on many teams throughout the years and received many awards. He was a constant fan at all his nephew’s baseball games.
He was an avid hiker and travelled throughout the United States on his adventures. He loved to share stories of his adventures, especially the close calls with bears. He was a child of the Woodstock generation and valued his friends and family much more than “things”. He will always be remembered as a loving brother, uncle, cousin and friend.
Arrangements are in the care of the Fairfield Funeral Home of Edmund W. Dougiello. Services will be announced at a later date.
