Joseph D. Fischer, of Hot Springs Village, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, December 21st, after a courageous fight against Hodgkins Lymphoma. He will be greatly missed.

Joe, as known by family and friends, was born May 14, 1941, in Oak Park, IL, to Doris and Joe Fischer. He grew up in Palatine, IL, and graduated from Palatine High School. He worked for his father in real estate before starting work in the corporate world for 3M and Chemplex. In 1979 he packed up his family and moved to Hot Springs Village, AR, where he was self-employed and enjoyed the benefits the Village had to offer. He played golf and tennis-becoming the president of the HSV Tennis Association-until injuries forced him to retire the tennis racquet. He then turned his focus on duplicate bridge and later pickleball. Joe was a member of one of the original Hot Springs Village pickleball leagues, encouraging his children to learn how to play long before it was popular. But bridge was his passion and he became an avid bridge player. He and his wife Vonna were one of the charter members of the HSV Bridge Club. Joe and Vonna even traveled on cruises around the world teaching bridge, and they made many dear friends along the way while playing the game. He became a Diamond Life Master-something only 2% of the bridge community has obtained. He enjoyed playing bridge up until his final days.

Joe was preceded in death by both his parents, his wife Vonna, and an infant daughter, Susan. He is survived by sons Joe Fischer (Patty), John Fischer (Kelli), and Tim Osborn (Debbie), daughter Jennifer Moline (Charles), grandchildren Joseph Fischer (Ashley), Cassidy and Aubrey Osborn and life-long friend Viola Fischer. A special thanks to the members of the Hot Springs Village Bridge Club for continuing to welcome him and encouraging him to play during his illness, and for friends Emil and Jordanka for taking him to bridge 4-5 days a week during his illness.

Our Dad lived his life to the fullest and was our biggest champion. He will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, please go out and learn a new game or sport. Maybe even take up bridge and enjoy life in his honor. A private memorial service will take place at a later date.
