Joseph S. Gnall, 73, of Whitehall, passed away peacefully on February 17th, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and quiet strength. Bornin Ashland, Pennsylvania, he was the beloved son of the late Joseph and Julia Gnall. Joe was a proud graduate of Mahanoy City High School and later continued his education at Pottsville X-Ray School, where he met the love of his life, Mary Louise (Boyle) Gnall. Together, they shared over 50 wonderful years of marriage filled with devotion, partnership, and cherished memories.
Joe dedicated 43 years of faithful service to Lehigh Valley Health Network, where his work ethic and commitment were evident to all who knew him. Even after retirement, he remained active in his community, spending time working at the Whitehall Recycling Center. Throughout his life, Joe carried the values of hard work, integrity, and dedication, setting an example for those around him.
Joe was an avid hunter and fisherman who found great joy in the outdoors. Whether in the woods at dawn or casting a line into a quiet stream, he cherished the outdoors. Many of his happiest moments were spent sharing those passions with family and friends. He was also a member of St. Elizabeth's Athletic Association, Knights of Columbus, and lifetime member at the Fullerton Fire Company.
Above all, Joe loved his family. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, and a deeply loving grandfather. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he treasured every moment spent with them.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Louise; his sons, Joseph and his wife Jennifer, and Michael and his wife Brittany; his cherished grandchildren, Gabriel Gnall, Grayson Gnall, Ella Gnall, and Blaine Heyer; his sister, Janet Gnall; his sister-in-law, Theresa; as well as many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Gregory Gnall and Michael Gnall.
Joseph will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his appreciation for the outdoors, and the kindness he showed to those around him. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Fr. Joseph J. Kweder at 10:00am on Saturday February 28, 2026 in Saint Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church 618 Fullerton Avenue, Whitehall, PA 18052, located 1 block south of the Fullerton Ave. exit of Route 22. His viewings will be on Friday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in the Gilbert Funeral Home, 444 Pershing Blvd, Whitehall, PA 18052, located directly across from the Church, and on Saturday Morning from 9:00 to 9:45 am in the Church.
Interment will follow at 1:00 pm Saturday in Saint Jerome Catholic Cemetery of Tamaqua.
