Joseph Alex Horvath, 89, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, in Monmouth Beach, New Jersey, on December 18, 2025.
Joseph was born on January 24, 1936, in Staten Island, New York, to Julius and Julia Horvath. He grew up in the Tottenville section of Staten Island and graduated from Tottenville High School in 1956. One of seven siblings, Joseph was preceded in death by three sisters, Barbara, Magda, and Mary. He is survived by his brothers William, Louis, and Robert, along with many nieces and nephews.
Joseph proudly served his country as a Veteran of the United States Army. He worked for the United States Postal Service and retired in 1992.
On February 23, 1963, Joseph married Judith Ann Heller, and together they shared 63 years of marriage. He is survived by his beloved wife, Judith Horvath; his children, Joseph Horvath; James Horvath (Stephanie) of Lebanon, NJ; and Julia Sendell( Richard) of Middletown, NJ. He is also survived by his grandson Nicholas of Highlands, NJ, and his granddaughters Abigail, Brooke, and Courtney of Middletown, NJ.
Joseph is further survived by Daniel DeBiaso (Andrea), and Kevin Bialowkowski and Laurie; and Emma Jean.
A private family graveside service was held. Joseph was laid to rest at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, New Jersey.
