Joseph Allan Nichols, age 83, of Canandaigua, New York, passed away on March 3, 2026. He was born on November 25, 1942, in Niagara Falls, New York to the late Francis Nichols.
Joseph proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a lithographer. Following his military service, he worked as a printer for Kodak and later as a recreation assistant at Ferris Hills, where he enjoyed connecting with and supporting others in his community.
Joe was deeply committed to helping others and generously volunteered his time with Special Olympics, Compeer, and St. Joseph's Villa. One of his greatest passions was photography, and his talent earned him several international awards over the years. Through his lens, he captured moments of beauty and meaning that reflected his thoughtful and observant nature.
He is survived by his children: Lori Hadley, Lynne Nichols, Jody (Ron) Cooper, Carla Carducci, and Scott Coloney. He was a proud grandfather to Alex Place, Cody Place, Samantha Place, Keanna Cooper, Brittany Cooper, Samuel Carducci, Macy Carducci, Marissa Coloney, Justine Coloney, and Cameron (Nathan) Griffin. He was a loyal brother to Gary Nichols, Jack Nichols, and the late Richard Nichols as well as a loving uncle to many special nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Joseph's wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. Family and friends will gather this summer to celebrate his life and share memories together.
Joe will be remembered for his kindness, creativity, and dedication to the people and causes he loved.
