Joseph Anthony Oliveri

1936 - 2026

Joseph Anthony Oliveri, 89, of Coconut Creek, Florida, passed away peacefully with his family at home on April 11, 2026.

Born on December 5, 1936, in Albany NY, son to the late Dominick & Elizabeth Oliveri.

In addition to his wife & parents, Joseph is predeceased by his siblings, Anthony, Daniel, Mary, Anne & Frances. Joseph proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Military Police officer (MP). His assignments included Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas; Camp Wolters near Fort Worth, Texas; and training facilities in Louisiana near Leesville. As an MP, he carried out his duties with dedication, integrity, and a strong sense of responsibility.

After his military service, Joseph considered a career in law enforcement, but due to his inability to swim well he instead had a successful career with the post office where he started as a Mail Carrier on foot, and retired as a station manager. He then worked for 10 more years at the Boca Resort and Club.

On Valentine’s Day 1963, he moved to Florida with his first wife Marion & children to join other family members that recently relocated there. He settled in the Ft. Lauderdale area and built a home and family there. He was known for being friendly, helpful, and for his strong work ethic, his love of family, traveling, and his quick wit, or sharing stories about his MP days, work or family.

He cherished every moment spent with his son, from everyday activities to unforgettable adventures. Whether traveling together, attending Miami Dolphins football games or watching them side by side, to enjoying live concerts, or relaxing at the beach, these shared experiences brought him immense joy and created memories that will last a lifetime

Whether spending time with his family or simply being the steady presence, everyone could rely on, Joseph touched the lives of all who knew him.

Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather whose values of honor and family came first. His years in the Army shaped him into a man of quiet strength and lifelong pride in his service.

Joseph enjoyed traveling with his second wife Dolores, and kids. In his final days nothing made him smile more than watching videos of his great grandchildren

Joseph is survived by his children, Michael J. Oliveri (Theresa) and Donna E. Joslyn (Joseph); his stepchildren, Edward G. (Peggy) & John Christopher O’Connell. His grandchildren, Lisa N. Naidu, Justin D. Gadell, Stephan P. Gadell, Kevin G. O’Connell, David L. O’Connell, Michael J. Joslyn, William J. Joslyn and Sean Foster; and his great-grandchildren, Thomas, Ava, Nicholas, and Emma. He was preceded in death by his first wife Marion C. Kuebler & his second wife of 50 years Dolores Oliveri as well as his stepdaughter Debra J. Gadell.

Funeral services will be held at the South Florida National Cemetery in Wellington, FL Monday May 4th at 11am with full military honors
