Joseph (Joey) Scott Perry, age 55 of West Haven, CT, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, surrounded by family and love. Joey was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on April 2nd, 1970 to Joseph Theodore Perry and Betty Ann Jackson. He was preceded in death by both parents and his sister, Kimberlee Perno.
He is survived by his sisters, Cindy (Cesar) Cabral of West Haven, CT, Debbie (Sal) Bruno of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Wendy (Peter) Jankauskas of Shelton, CT, Lisa Perry-Ashley of Greensboro, NC, and brother, Bruce (Lisa) DeWitt of Rainbow City, AL, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends.
While born with Down Syndrome, that never hindered Joey from living a full and blessed life, filled with purpose and joy. He participated in the Special Olympics and won numerous medals over the years. He also worked through and participated in West Haven Community Connections/SMILES for over 40 years. Joey loved all genres of music, especially country and classic 70's rock. He also loved playing cards, dancing, traveling, and spending time with family. His beautiful smile and personality will be remembered by all he encountered.
A private family celebration of life will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to either the Connecticut Special Olympics or the West Haven Community Connections Program in Joey's name.
