Joseph David "Joe" Ritzmann, 89, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025, in Manchester, Maryland.

Born on July 25, 1936, in White Hall, Maryland, Joe was the son of the late Herman and Edna (Miller) Ritzmann. He graduated from Hereford High School in 1955 and soon after began a life marked by dedication to family, service to his country, and a strong work ethic that defined his professional journey.

Joe proudly served in the United States Army and spent time stationed in Korea. Upon returning home, he established deep roots in Parkville, Maryland, where he spent his entire adult life in the Woodcroft community. There, he and his beloved wife Jennifer J. "Judy" Ritzmann built a life together that spanned over 58 years of marriage until her passing.

A skilled mechanic and entrepreneur, Joe owned and operated J&R Motors in Parkton for more than five decades. His shop became a trusted fixture in the community—a place where customers knew they could count on honest work and friendly service.

Outside of work, Joe found joy on the water with his boat and later cherished time spent at his vacation home in Ocean City, Maryland. He was an avid NASCAR enthusiast and a loyal fan of the Baltimore Orioles.

Joe's legacy continues through his grandson Dakota Ritzmann; brothers, Charles "Fred" Ritzmann and Carrol Edward Ritzmann; sisters, Maxine Ritzmann, Barbara Ann Ward and Mary Jo Ward as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Judy; their son Jefferey D. Ritzmann; daughter-in-law Lisa Cullum-Ritzmann; sister Margaret "Peg" (Ritzmann) Farrington and his parents.

In recent years, as illness progressed, Joe relocated to North Pines Assisted Living in Manchester, where he received care with dignity and compassion.

May Joseph David Ritzmann's memory bring comfort to those who knew him and serve as a lasting tribute to a life well lived. A Celebration of Life will be held on December 6, 2025, at 11:30 AM at Wiseburg United Methodist Church 810 Wiseburg Rd. The Celebration of Life will be for Joe and his late wife Jennifer.
