Joseph Marion Wolfe, Jr. returned to his Heavenly Father on April 9, 2026. Joe passed away peacefully at home next to his loving wife, Karin.
Joe was born on April 1, 1938 in Tuscumbia, Alabama to Estelle Sherrel Wolfe and Joseph M. Wolfe, Sr. He was raised in St. Augustine, Florida. He grew up Methodist and always had an unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. He spent his life learning about Him and searching for truth about His gospel.
Passionate about education, Joe earned his undergraduate degree from Auburn University in 1963 and his MBA from the University of North Florida in 1981. He was a lifelong learner, constantly on the search for knowledge. Not only did he love to learn, but he loved teaching others. He taught construction management classes at the University of Wisconsin and Weber State University. He explained that seeing the light go on in someone’s eyes brought him immense joy. He was a very adventurous person, and some of his fondest memories were learning to scuba dive and becoming a pilot.
Joe was a very hard worker. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy. He was passionate about what he did. One of his proudest accomplishments was working with NASA to help put a man on the moon. He worked on many major airport projects, including those in Nashville, Pensacola, Cincinnati, Salt Lake City, and Boston. His work led him to meeting the love of his life.
Joe married Karin George Solomon on June 19, 2000. Together they shared an amazing love story. He never went a day without telling his wife that he loved her. They traveled around the United States and spent a lot of time with their grandchildren. Anyone that saw the two of them together could tell how much they loved each other.
While the two were living in Boston, Massachusetts, the LDS missionaries knocked on his door. Joe was baptized as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on October 13, 2001. Joe and Karin were sealed together for time and all eternity on February 22, 2003 in the Salt Lake Temple. The two faithfully served in many church callings, and Joe loved teaching Gospel Doctrine. The gospel brought Joe great joy, and he searched the scriptures for knowledge the same way he searched for knowledge throughout his life.
Joe is survived by his wife, Karin Wolfe; children Troy (Laurie) Solomon, Trina Dyson; grandchildren Brynlee Dyson, Reagan (Ryker) Cluff, Hunter Solomon, and Gatlin (Sophia) Solomon; great-grandchildren Rowan and Stetson Cluff. He is preceded in death by his parents, Estelle and Joseph Wolfe, Margaret and Rex George; sister Anne Hawk, and brother-in-law Coleman Hawk.
Grandpa Joe will be remembered as a man of high moral character. We never heard him speak an ill-word of anyone. His Christlike nature was a powerful example to everyone he knew or came in contact with, and he had an incredible ability to make everyone feel loved. He cherished his roles as husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His family loved to listen to him tell stories in his sweet southern accent. We are better people for loving him, and we will live better lives because of our Grandpa Joe.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 17th, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Stonecreek Ward chapel, located at 1476 North 300 West, Bountiful, Utah 84010. Interment will follow the services at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
