Joshua Carl Irick, 41, of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away on March 10, 2026. UT Medical Center lovingly cared for Joshua until March 12th, when he donated his organs to people who can now begin new lives because of his gift. Born on August 6, 1984, in Johnson City, Tennessee, Josh lived a life filled with purpose, passion, and love.
A proud graduate of Elizabethton High School’s class of 2002, Josh went on to attend Appalachian State University. There, he played collegiate baseball and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Science. His time at Appalachian State not only honed his skills but also deepened his love for baseball, a sport that remained close to his heart throughout his life.
Josh began his professional journey as a project manager focused on revitalizing dilapidated homes in underserved communities. This work ignited a lifelong commitment to ensuring safe and affordable housing for those most in need. His dedication led him to serve as an officer on the board of directors for the Home Builders Association of Greater Knoxville and as a State Delegate for the Home Builders Association of Tennessee. Through these roles, Josh championed initiatives that improved housing accessibility and quality for countless individuals.
An accomplished entrepreneur, Josh owned multiple Honey Do Service franchises and founded several businesses over the years. Most recently, he and his wife Brittany embarked on a new venture aimed at supporting real estate and estate planning services for senior citizens. From the start of his career to its culmination, Josh's unwavering goal was to provide housing solutions for communities in need—a mission that defined both his professional achievements and personal values.
Josh’s life was enriched by his cherished family—his beloved wife Brittany and their daughters Sophia (15) and Piper (14), whom he affectionately referred to as his "girls." They were the light of his life and the source of his greatest joy. Whether spending time together at Smokies Baseball Stadium or creating treasured memories during trips to the Virgin Islands, Josh’s happiest moments were those shared with Brittany, Sophia, and Piper.
Known for his infectious laugh and warm smile, Josh brought humor and positivity into every room he entered. Even on challenging days, he found ways to uplift those around him with his quick wit and genuine kindness. He enjoyed playing golf—whether it was a good game or a bad one—with Brittany and friends, relishing not just the sport but also the camaraderie it fostered.
Josh was predeceased by his father, Thomas Irick. He is survived by his immediate family as well as his loving mother, Vickie, stepfather, Gary, and in-laws, Richard and Regina. Josh also leaves behind many relatives, friends, and colleagues whose lives were enriched by his generosity, humor, and unwavering commitment to helping others.
Joshua Carl Irick will be remembered as a devoted husband and father, an advocate for affordable housing, a successful entrepreneur, and a man whose laughter could brighten even the darkest day. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
