Joyce Dean Brooks, 69, passed away peacefully in her bed on January 17, 2026, in Lorain, Ohio. She was born on July 23, 1956, in Delbarton, West Virginia.
Joyce earned multiple Associate Degrees from Lorain County Community College where she made the Dean's List. Her commitment to learning reflected her deep curiosity and desire to grow throughout her life.
She was a devoted mother to Larry (Stephanie) Camp, James R Camp, Brooks (Lynette) Camp, and Lindsey (Taina) Camp. Her love extended beyond her immediate family as she was also a proud grandmother to Emma Camp, Jaime Camp, Evie Camp, and Duncan Camp. Joyce’s nurturing spirit made her a second Mom and Granny to many more whose lives she touched with compassion and care.
Joyce is also remembered by her siblings: Deanna Carter, Stella Brooks, Bobbi (Roger) May, Bonnie Brooks, Tamara McDermott, and John Brooks. She held close the memory of her parents Ruby (George) Palagyi and Dean (Dolores) Brooks, as well as her former husband, James E Camp. She also cherished the memory of her brother-in-law Jack Carter.
Her passions were rooted in home and heart. She found joy in reading, gardening, cooking, and spending time with family. A gifted cook and baker, Joyce’s kitchen was often filled with delicious aromas that welcomed all who entered. More than just meals, she offered comfort and a safe place where everyone felt loved and cared for.
At her request, she will be cremated with no services imminently held. There will be a Celebration of Life in the springtime. Details will be posted online at a later date.
