Joyce Ann Campbell (nee Caswell), a resident of Dolton, IL, for over forty years, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025, at the age of 76. In life Joyce spent her time enjoying the company of her family and friends, gardening, and doing home improvement projects. She enjoyed reading and the experience of live theater. Her presence and home were the cornerstones of family gatherings for many life events and celebrations.
Joyce was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1949. She was the third of five children. She attended Blessed Sacrament Elementary School, and David Glasglow Farragut High School. She married her husband, Arthur Lee Campbell of Cairo, IL in 1974.
Joyce is survived by her daughters, Kimberly Campbell and Jennifer (Owen Leewis) Campbell; a niece, Shawn D. Napier; her grandsons Payton Coulter and Emerson Leewis; her sister Patricia (Michael) Evans; a brother Frank Caswell; nephews Brian (Hyacinth Johnson) Caswell, Christopher Caswell, and Nkosi Michael Evans; and a niece Melanie Caswell.
Her memory will also be cherished by a great niece, Natalie Paige Thomatis, three great nephews, Gilton Derrida Cross, Jai Winton Xavier Cross and Talib Humphrey; one great-great nephew Messiah Bovan; and a host of extended family and dear friends. A special thank you to Debbie Coulter for her friendship and continued support of the family.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of thirty years, Arthur Lee Campbell; her mother Viola "Ida" Simes; sister Carol A. Caswell; brother James Caswell; and niece Sondra Napier.
A memorial service will take place at a later date to celebrate Joyce's life. To honor her memory, the family asks that donations be made to the Diabetes Action Research and Education Foundation in her name.
