Joyce Patricia Daley, passed away peacefully at her home on June 28, 2025 from ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis/Lou Gehrig's disease). Joyce lived for a year and a half after her diagnosis, being cared for by her spouse, Laureen (Laurie) Hall at their home in Villa Park, Illinois.
Joyce was born in St. Louis, Missouri on June 3, 1946 to James and Opal Daley. Joyce spent her childhood in southern Illinois and northern Missouri. She earned her bachelor's degree from Illinois State University and her master's degree from Southern Illinois University. After a brief teaching stint, she moved to northern Illinois and entered the corporate world with Morton-Norwich in Human Resources. She later joined CNA Insurance in their Human Resources department in downtown Chicago.
In the early 2000s, Joyce returned to her love of teaching. For nearly twenty years, she worked with students in and out of the classroom at the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, IL, teaching speech communication courses and serving as a coach in the Writing, Reading, Speech Assistance area (WRSA). Joyce was known for her down-to-earth, patient nature and her ability to really connect with both students and colleagues.
After retiring during the COVID pandemic, Joyce was able to spend more quality time at her lakeside cottage in Michigan. Joyce purchased the cottage in the mid-80's and spent time rehabbing the home; it was one of her happy places.
Joyce was passionate about animal welfare and environmental causes. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to a local animal rescue.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her spouse.
