Joyce Josephine Sandlin Wofford, 83 years old, is now with her Savior. She passed from this life on December 11, 2025. As a sign of her generosity, she donated her body for medical research.
She was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in late November and was put in the Prisma Health Inpatient Hospice at Greenville Memorial Hospital on December 7, 2025. The staff was amazing and so compassionate during her final days. She visited with friends and family until the last. Her laughter and singing were a comfort to all of us. Her face lit up when special people walked in the door. She went to her Heavenly reward without a long period of suffering and with dignity and grace. The family gained strength with all the prayers of friends, family, colleagues and even strangers. We will miss her greatly and will have to learn to carry on without her earthly presence.
Joyce worked in the food service industry and drove a truck for a while but her real love was to be a wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend to those who crossed her path. She was a talented artisan who loved sewing quilts and other handicrafts, making jewelry and crocheting.
She was born and lived in Greenville County, South Carolina most of her life.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, parents, a sister, a brother, and a granddaughter.
She is survived by her daughter, a grandson, great granddaughter, a brother, a sister, a brother-in-law and multiple nieces and nephews. To honor our memories of Joyce, a come and go "Celebration of Life" will be held on January 17, 2026 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Brushy Creek Baptist Church, 4999 Old Spartanburg Rd, Taylors, SC 29687. It will be held in the "Front Room" of the "Gym" Building.
