Juanita Brumfield

Juanita Brumfield was born on September 7, 1941 to Ocie H. Burton Sr. and Dorothy Mae Burton in Fairmont, West Virginia. At the age of 2 she moved with her parents to Highland Park, MI where she resided until deciding to relocate to CA in the late 60s.

Juanita was preceded in death by her husband. Virgil Brumfield; her father, Ocie H. Burton Sr; her mother, Dorothy Mae Burton: her sister, Dorothy Mae Smith; her brother, Ocie H. Burton II.

Juanita accepted Christ at an early age and served on the Jr. Usher Board, sang in the children's choir, belonged to the Sunshine Band, and regularly attended BYPU at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit, MI. In California, Juanita was a longtime active member of Community Baptist Church serving on the Repast Committee. Juanita will be remembered for her calm, unassuming nature, but more so for her strong faith in God. Juanita started every day in prayer and studying the word of God and never hesitated to pray with and for those during their time of need.

Juanita received her elementary and high school education in the Highland Park School System and attended a business School in Detroit, MI. She worked an administrative position at Blue Cross Blue Shield until she relocated to CA where she worked for State Farm until retiring after 32 years.

Juanita went home to be with the Lord after a very brief illness on January 22, 2026. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, John Adams (Victoria), her granddaughters, Jayla (Justice) and Shanti Adams, her great grandchildren, Syari, Avaya and Jaire, her sister, Pat McNeeley (Liverpool, NY), a nephew, Ocie H. Burton III (Syracuse, NY), (Tia), a niece, Rasheeda Burton of Birmingham, Alabama, extended family and friends.
