Juanita Calhoon Shields, born on April 21, 1948, passed away on October 16, 2025, in Abilene, TX. A cherished member of the community and a talented graphic artist, Juanita dedicated years of service to the Abilene Reporter News and R&R Reproduction, where her artistic talents shone through in every project she touched.
A devoted mother, grandmother, and sister, Juanita is survived by her son, Tony Shields; daughter, Laura Shields; granddaughters, Christony, Alexis and Arabella Shields; grandson Carter Shields, sisters, Dorothy Calhoon, Pauline Bell, and Patricia Adams; brother, Larry Calhoon; one great grandson; one great granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Wilma Johnson, sister Sandra Veach, and her parents, Paul and Inez Calhoon.
Juanita was a graduate of Howard Payne University, where she honed her skills that later defined her career. Beyond her professional life, she was a passionate artist, known for her beautiful sketches and mastery of graphic arts, which brought joy and beauty to those around her.
Graveside services for Juanita will be held Wednesday, 2:00 p.m. at the Fife Cemetery near Brady, Texas, where friends and family can gather to honor her memory and legacy.
