Judi Cannon Keenum

1936 - 2026

Judi Cannon Keenum - a life well lived. She seldom asked for anything for herself as her desires always seemed to be "others focused". From raising five kids on a policeman's salary, to asking how she could help her friends get through a personal rough patch, to digging deep into her vault of wisdom when any of her kids requested parenting advice; she always tried to offer creative and unique solutions to any situation with which she (or by proxy, others!) was presented.
The hard part is now over. Mom's earthly journey came to an end on March 24th (on what would have been Dad's 90th birthday!) She is now pain-free and resting in heaven.
Her time on earth started on Oct. 21st, 1936. She was raised in Wilmette, Il before her family moved to Crystal Lake where Mom finished high school. Mom graduated from McMurray College then she and Dad married in 1959 and started their family. First in Illinois with Matt, Maggie, and Adam, then spending several years living in Southern California where Alec and Becky came along before moving back to Illinois and settling in the Marengo/Union area to ultimately raise their family. She called McHenry County home for most of her life, however she did start a new chapter of her life in the late 90's when she moved to Lake Geneva, WI then Alburqueue, NM and finally Phoenix, AZ where she had lived for the last 20+ years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary Cannon, the father of her five children (Jack Keenum), her brother Kim, his wife Kathy, as well as a large number of lifetime friends.
Mom leaves behind a multi-generational legacy; Her five children, Matt (Stephanie), Maggie (Mark), Adam (Donna), Alec (Kim) and Becky; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews and extended family members.
Her requests were often simple in nature, and a simple celebration of life is no exception. She asks that all who desire to join us do so with a wand full of bubbles. That's right, she just wants us to blow bubbles in her memory and tell stories and laugh!
Judi Keenum story time (celebration of life) will be Saturday May 9th from noon to four at 19303 W. Coral Rd. Marengo, Il.. We look forward to many laughs and tears as we all gather to recollect our favorite memories and stories.
