Judith Mary Cunha

Judith Mary Cunha, aged 71, passed away on January 27, 2026, in Newark, DE. Born on August 30,1954, Judith was a cherished member of her community and a beacon of love and creativity to her family.
Judith's education began at Holy Rosary and continued at Padua Academy, graduating in 1971. She furthered her studies at the University of Delaware, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree. She worked at the University of Delaware, until her retirement in 2017, a decision made to dedicate more time to her beloved grandchildren.
A devout parishioner of Holy Family Church, Judith's faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and providing comfort and community throughout her years. She enjoyed attending mass with her son, Don.
Judith's life was marked by a profound dedication to her family. She is survived by her loving daughters, J'Aime Rau (Christopher) and Jillian Laxton (Vincent), her son Donald Walker, and her grandchildren Jude, Jordan, and Josephine Streavel, and Jacob Rau. She also leaves behind her brother, Timothy Leonard (Michele). She was preceded in death by her son Matthew Walker, her husband Allan Cunha, her parents Robert Leonard and Mary Twaddell, and her brother James Leonard.
Known affectionately as Coach Nana, Judith's creative spirit shone brightly through her involvement in coaching her granddaughters in pageants. She was instrumental in their successes, designing outfits, choreographing routines, and ensuring they shone on stage, which led to representation by a talent agency and her grandson Jacob currently being featured in a Disney Cruise Line commercial.
Judith found great joy in life's simpler moments; whether it was exploring new restaurants with her son Don, binge-watching her favorite shows on BritBox and Netflix, or spending cherished times at the Outer Banks with her family.
Judith's family would like to thank the caring staff of Nurses at Christiana Hospital on 3C and 6E, especially Kristen McKinley.
A Funeral Mass to honor and celebrate her life will be held on April 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, located at 15 Gender Road, Newark, DE 19713.
