Judith Ann "Judy" Dickerson, 81, passed away on November 5, 2025, in Vail, Arizona. Born on September 10, 1944, in Mahoning, Pennsylvania, Judy lived a vibrant and adventurous life that took her across the country and touched the hearts of many.
Judy was known for her outgoing spirit, boundless creativity, and infectious sense of humor. She had a remarkable ability to connect with people wherever she went—making friends easily and leaving lasting impressions with her warmth and wit. Her artistic nature found expression in countless crafts over the years, reflecting both her talent and her joy in creating beauty.
Throughout her professional life, Judy worked in sales and purchasing in Richmond and the Tidewater area of Virginia. Her career was marked by dedication and professionalism, but it was her personal passions that truly defined her. She had a deep love for the arts—movies, plays, musicals, museums—and found delight in comedies and relaxing poolside. Music brought her great joy throughout her life.
The beach held a special place in Judy's heart; it was her sanctuary and happy place from childhood through her final years. Her love for the ocean remained constant no matter where life took her. Over the years, she called many states home—including Pennsylvania, California, Washington, Michigan, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Virginia—and finally Arizona.
In 2006, Judy moved to Arizona with her son Paul Dickerson of Vail. Together they spent two decades making cherished memories as they traveled across the West Coast and Hawaii. Their bond was strong and filled with shared adventures that enriched both their lives.
Though not originally a dog person, Judy grew to love German Shepherds deeply—especially Aspen and Jackson—who now miss her dearly. Her open heart extended even to those affections she once thought unlikely.
Judy is survived by her devoted son Paul; her sister Jody Jenkins and husband Gillie of Troy; sister Ann Draper and husband Mike of Glen Allen; brother Tom Bierowski and wife Linda of Midlothian; brother John Bierowski and wife Carolyn of Chesterfield; and youngest brother Joe Bierowski of Orange, Connecticut.
A private memorial service will be held in accordance with Judy's wishes.
Paul extends his heartfelt gratitude to the Thema Hospice Team of Tucson for their compassionate care during this difficult time.
In honor of Judy's memory, donations may be made to Thema Health Services or Westside German Shepherd Rescue of California.
May Judith Ann Dickerson's memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
