Judith Marie (Slover) Dreves, 83 passed away after a long illness on Monday, April 13th, 2026. She was a resident of Laurel Circle Retirement Community in Bridgewater, NJ. Prior to living at Laurel Circle, Judy and her husband Carter were residents of Hillsborough, NJ. Born January 21, 1943, in Niles, Michigan to the late Earl Osborne Slover and Stella (Mak) Slover, "Judy" was the eldest of four siblings. She is survived by her husband F. "Carter" Dreves of Bridgewater, N.J. and son, Andrew Carter Dreves and daughter-in-law Amy Lorene Thrush-Dreves and granddaughter Eliza Ridgely Dreves of Gettysburg, PA. Judith is also survived by her sister Jacqueline "Sue" Valentine of San Francisco, CA and her brother Gregg Slover of Chandler, AZ. Judith was proceeded in death by her youngest sister, Linda L. Slover of Kalamazoo, MI.
Judy was a graduate of Portage High School and also attended Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo where she met her husband Carter. They were married in Kalamazoo in 1966, resided in Elkhart and Mishawaka and settled in South Bend in 1972. Judith was both a homemaker and corporate wife. She was a supporter of historical preservation and an early member of Southhold Restorations in South Bend. She donated her time towards saving historic properties in the South Bend area, most notably the iconic Studebaker Mansion "Tippecanoe Place." She also served in leadership capacities on library boards in both Bethel Park, PA and Hillsborough, NJ. Promoting literacy education in her community was very important to her. She also enjoyed researching genealogy, solving puzzles, gardening, cooking / entertaining and was an avid bridge player who hosted many bridge clubs during her time living in Bethel Park.
Services and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, tax deductible donations can be made in Judith's name to the Alzheimer's Association www.alz.org or the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation www.colonialwilliamsburg.com
