Judith Yvette (Hixson) Redman passed away in the early morning of Thursday, February 12, 2026 at the Kindred Hospice in Paramount, California. She left us after an extended battle with respiratory disease.

Judi was the only child of Judson and Annie Mae (Barton) Hixson. She was born in Los Angeles on April 25, 1960.
She attended University of California, Berkeley in Oakland after graduating from The Brentwood School in Brentwood, California.

Born in Los Angeles, California, she was our beloved cousin and our friend.
She worked at the Braille institute in Los Angeles after college where she met her first husband.

She is remembered by her friends and family for her humor as well as her droll and understated opinions on life, family and politics.

Judi was blessed with close friends including Sonissa, Frank, and Peter who knew her as a dedicated supporter and member of the Bus Riders Union of Los Angeles.

Judi’s friend from Chicago, Patrice McKinley shared these memories, “Judi was always up for an adventure.  In fact, within the last 3 years she went to see the Rolling Stones and Billie Eilish.  She wasn’t able to walk without assistance but went anyway because she refused to let her health stop her.  I will miss her, her humor and her determination to live and to thrive”.

Judi’s wished to donate to science and humanity. UCLA became the recipient of her anatomical gift. Her legacy will benefit future generations. The cremated remains have been scattered at sea.
