McHenry, Illinois — Judith Malcolm Johnson, 89, of McHenry, Illinois, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2025, at the Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights, Illinois.
Born on January 18, 1936, in Chicago, Judy lived a life filled with gratitude, faith, and joy. She was known for her warmth, her wonderful sense of humor, and her constant expression of happiness and thankfulness. A lifelong church participant, Judy found great comfort and purpose in her faith and community.
She was a devoted mother to her sons, Larry and Glenn, and a loving grandmother to five grandchildren — Christine (nee Madden), Hannah, Tyler, Zachary, and Garrett. Judy was also blessed with one great-grandchild, Finan Robert Madden.
Judy deeply valued the friendships that enriched her life, including her lifelong friend Jackie Vangundy, her dear friends Andy, Marlene, and Scott Franzen, and Bill Johnson. She loved spending time in Upper Michigan, a place that always brought her peace and happiness. Judy also enjoyed taking art classes with friends, where her creativity and laughter filled the room.
She was preceded in death by her siblings Barbara A. Westerhoff (née Malcolm), David Malcolm, and Robert Malcolm.
Her kindness, optimism, and unwavering faith will be remembered by all who knew her.
