Send Flowers
Judith (Judy) Anne Walters, age 88, formerly of Stamford, CT passed away December 26th, 2025 in Fernandina Beach, FL.

Judy was a people person, who found it easy to talk to anyone. She was a prayer warrior, praying daily for friends, family and people she would meet in her daily travels. She was active in the First United Methodist Church of Stamford, CT for decades. She taught Sunday school, Bible school, sang in the church choir, was a Lay Speaker, a Lay Servant in Biblical Interpretation, and a Stephen Minister. She was also a speaker and support staff for Tres Dias weekends and was certified to do Hospice Care.

As a young woman she worked as a bookkeeper at White Castle, and at City News Service. When her daughters were young, she was their girl scout leader. When her three children were older and all in school, she went back to work as a Teachers Assistant in several Stamford elementary schools, and as a Special Education Teachers Assistant at Davenport Ridge Elementary School. She also worked as a florist, and she was a documents manager at GE.

She loved doing crafts, watching things grow in her gardens, caring for many cats and one dog, and traveling to see friends and family in a Roadtrek with her husband Fred. She was particularly fond of visiting beaches to stand in the ocean water, smell the sea air, collect shells and stones, and eat clams or lobster.

Because of her love of the beach, it was an easy decision to move south to Fernandina Beach, FL. She spent many days looking out at the waves with her daughter Coty. She also attended the Memorial United Methodist Church in Fernandina Beach where she sang with the Memorial Singers at local assisted living facilities.

She is preceded in death by her parents Thomas U. and Dorothea E. Day, her sister Marjorie (Marge) Wilmot, and her husband Fred Walters.

She is survived by her sister Pam Marshall and her husband Neil Marshall, her daughter Leesa Walters and her husband Randy Davis, her daughter Coty Wolf and her partner Michael Johns, her son Alan Walters and his wife Christine Walters, her granddaughter Rylee Walters, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and their families.

A service was held in Fernandina Beach with immediate family, and a celebration of life will be held at The First United Methodist Church, 42 Cross Road, Stamford, CT 06905 on Thursday, April 9th, 2026, at 10:00 AM.

The family would like to thank everyone who kept in touch with her by phone and letters, those who transported her to church and choir, and everyone who cared for her at Fellowship of Amelia Island Assisted Living and Memory Care, and for the caring support she had through Vitas Hospice.

If lieu of flowers, friends may make memorial contributions to The First United Methodist Church, in Stamford, CT or Memorial United Methodist Church in Fernandina Beach, FL.

We know she is sending us love and hugs from across the miles. She will be missed.
