Judith Ann Mulcahey Reihard of Tempe, AZ passed away in December 2025 one week short of her 83rd birthday.
Judy was born in December 1942 in Colfax, IL to Mary Rita and John Patrick Mulcahey. Judy's primary education began in a rural one-room schoolhouse and continued through elementary and early high school in the Octavia School District. She completed her final two years of high school at Sacred Heart Academy. Judy went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Illinois State University and a master's degree from Arizona State University.
Judy moved to Arizona in 1964 and began her career in education in the Tempe Union High School District (TUHSD) with the opening of McClintock High School. Throughout her 60 plus years as a high school math teacher, she taught at most of the schools in the TUHSD and also online for the Maricopa Community Colleges.
Judy married her husband Harold in 1968. They both enjoyed spending time outdoors camping, fishing, and at their cabin in northern AZ. Judy's greatest joy was being a mother and she was blessed with one daughter.
Judy was a devote Catholic her entire life. She had a fierce will to live and keep active. Judy traveled to many destinations, both domestic and international. She participated in many hobbies, including sewing, cross stitch, ancestry research, and card making. She was a member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF), Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO), and library book club.
Judy is survived by her daughter Anne and her brother Danton. Judy is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her infant brother Daniel, and her double first cousins Mary Ann and David Mulcahey. She was beloved by her extensive network of family, life-long friends, fellow teachers and students.
A funeral mass and reception will be held in her honor on Friday, January 23, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Tempe, AZ for family, friends, former coworkers and students in Arizona. Additional services and committal of remains will occur later in the spring for family and friends in Illinois.
