Judith Retynsky, 82, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026, in Enfield, Connecticut. Born on July 4, 1943, in Worcester, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Thursten and Eleanor (Webb) Mendelin.

Judy graduated from Enfield High School in 1961 and attended the University of Hartford. Early in her career, she worked as a buyer at Dynamic Controls in South Windsor later moving to Dexter Midland Corporation in Rocky Hill, where she worked for many years until her retirement.

Judith is survived by her husband of 60 years, Victor. The two met in South Windsor while Judy was working at Dynamic Controls and Vic was working for the Electric Boat Division of General Dynamics . Initially living in Stonington, they moved to Ellington where they raised their two girls and lived for over 40 years. Most recently they resided in Enfield for the past 10 years. In her early retirement she enjoyed traveling with Vic. Their trips included Bermuda, Italy, Hawaii, numerous National parks and especially their many trips to Costa Rica.

Judy took great joy in baking her delicious cookies for both friends and family to enjoy as well as baking for the annual Christmas bazaar at church. When she was able, she enjoyed planting flowers outside. Judy also loved doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles and playing word games on her phone.

Judy is also survived by her daughters Debby Tavernier and her husband Gerry, and Vicky Ledbetter and her husband Jeff. She leaves behind grandchildren Rob Tavernier and his wife Meghan, Teddy Tavernier, Lindsey Ledbetter, and Justin Ledbetter.

Judy also leaves her sisters Holly Todd, Ruth Roberts, and Joan Falkowski; brothers-in-law Wayne Roberts and Richard Falkowski; and sister-in-law Regina Retynsky. She was predeceased by her brother-in-laws, Ivan Retynsky and Wayne Todd.

Her daughters would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the Beacon Hospice staff, Cathy, Madi, Melissa and Delma and most especially, to her hospice nurse Lindsay for her patience and guidance.

A calling hour will be held on January 31, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 01:00 PM at Rockville United Methodist Church 142 Grove Street followed by a Memorial Service at 01:00 PM.
