Judy Cotter
Judy Cotter, a long time resident of the Delray Beach and Smallwood communities, passed away on December 29, 2025, at the age of 81. Born in New York City on January 10, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Pat and Joe Hopkins. Judy possessed a spirit as vibrant and colorful as the dresses she wore.

For 35 years, Judy was the heart of The Snappy Turtle boutique in Delray Beach. Customers visited as much for resort wear as for the chance to chat with "Mrs. Judy," who was easily identified by her signature bright lipstick and echoing laugh. She worked until the day before her passing, a testament to her strength and love of life.

Her summers were spent in the rural charm of Smallwood, New York. For 55 years she found joy at her cabin in this Catskill hamlet. Her days there were defined by the simple joys of life: days at the lake, tennis, wine (with ice) and life long friends.

She is survived by her adored son, John, and daughter-in-law, Lisa. She was the grandmother to her cherished grandchildren, Samantha, Sasha, and Shawn. Judy also leaves behind her beloved siblings: Peter, Chrissie, Paul, Irene, Dale, Joanne, and Jimmy, as well as her former husband, Jack. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Ray.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Lucy Catholic Church in Highland Beach, FL on Saturday February 28th 11:00am. A summer date for a Celebration of Life in Smallwood, NY, will be announced later.
Memorial contributions in memory may be made to the Smallwood Youth Experience (SYE), a program providing recreational and educational opportunities for children in the Smallwood community. Donations may be made online at smallwoodcivic39.wildapricot.org or via check to the Smallwood Civic Association, PO Box 151, Smallwood, NY 12778.
