Judy White Reed passed away on January 9, 2026 in Altamonte Springs, Florida at the age of 69. She was born on June 23, 1956 in Jasper, Tennessee. She died from the privilege of old age.
Judy was a high school dropout. She was convinced she wouldn’t do anything great in life but at 43 she beat the odds and graduated from UCF to become a math teacher. She taught at Harkham Hillel Hebrew Academy (Beverly Hills), Meadowbrook Middle School (Orlando), and Muslim Academy of Central Florida (Orlando).
Judy was the best of humans and thereby the best teacher. Her students loved her quirky teaching style, capacity for listening, and funny teacher voices. “Space lady” was her daughter’s favorite. Her students and children alike cringed when she started to countdown in the mom voice. “One. Two. Two-and-a-half…”
If you could sit down with Judy today, she’d tell you some stories. She’d tell you about the baby hummingbird she saved out of a pool. About “crack-a-top-biscuits” (ya know—the canned kind). Did you know she loved anime? She played Dungeons & Dragons once upon a time too. She’d tell you about the buckeye making parties she had for students. She’d tell you that her and her brother used to have a furniture refinishing business. She’d tell you that Christmas was her and her daughter’s favorite time of year and that they kickstarted the season with Mannheim Steamroller or “Christmas Greetings from Nashville.” She’d tell you she lived in Tennessee, California, and Florida and that her favorite place was where her kids were.
Judy has moved on to a celestial plane with all her favorites. There’ll be a cozy house decorated with salt and pepper shakers. There’ll be Coca-Cola on tap and Whoppers on demand. Cats and dogs will rule her new kingdom. She will pay her taxes in scritches and hamburger coated in mayonnaise. Her favorite celestial humans will join her and the furbabies on the couch to soak in nature’s majesty through the floor to ceiling windows while drinking coffee.
En route may Judy swiftly find the Rainbow Bridge, where she will be met by a pack of furbabies—her beloved dogs Peanut, Lowkey, Spot, and Nano, and feline mayonnaise aficionados, including Anastasia, Stinky, Dean, Felix, Beavis, and Butthead. (You read that right.) May she also have a big van to fit the countless strays and other loved animals whose names have been lost to time.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael D. Reed (d. 2012); her mother, Maxine Rankin McElroy (d. 2012); her father, Lewis Clayton White, Sr. (d. 1996); her step‑father, James Edward McElroy (d. 1995); her brother, Robert Lewis White, Sr. (d. 1988); and her nephew, Robert Lewis White, Jr. (d. 2019). She is survived by her two children.
No services are scheduled.
