In Loving Memory of Julio Borges
January 28, 1934 – March 1, 2026

Julio Borges, devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, entrepreneur, and artist, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 1, 2026 at 2:23 a.m. His life was defined by sacrifice, discipline, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to his family.

Julio was born on January 28, 1934, in Manicaragua, Cuba. He was one of nine siblings and is survived by three of them, Daysi, Luisito, and Milagros. His early life in Cuba shaped his strength and work ethic. Under the communist regime, he endured forced labor and severe hardship, experiences that tested him physically and emotionally but strengthened his determination to build a better future.

He met the love of his life, Teresa, in Santa Clara, Las Villas, Cuba in 1956. They married in 1959 and began building their life together during uncertain times. In 1968, determined to secure freedom and opportunity for his family, Julio left Cuba for Spain. In 1970, he arrived in the United States, the country that would become his permanent home.

In 1971, through relentless hard work and determination, he built Las 3 Hermanas. He later expanded his business ventures to include Las 3 Hermanas #2 and La Modelo Carnicería. These meat markets were more than businesses. They were the result of discipline, long hours, and sacrifice. He worked tirelessly, saved carefully, and invested wisely. In 1989, he sold the last of his three markets, closing a chapter that represented years of perseverance and commitment.

Julio was also a celebrated artist having art installations and exhibitions in NYC, NJ and Miami Beach. His paintings reflected the Cuba he carried in his heart, countryside landscapes, agricultural scenes, and memories of family life. Through his art, he preserved his history and honored his roots. His work told the story of where he came from and the life he built.

Above all, Julio was a family man. He was the devoted husband of Teresa Borges and a proud father to Teresita, Damian, and Roberto. He also leaves behind his nephew, Jesus Alonso. He was a loving and proud grandfather to Jessica, Alexander, Christian, Gabrielle, Christopher, Isabella, and Alejandro, and a cherished great-grandfather to Delilah, Alexander, Luna, and Elara. His family was his greatest pride.

Even after building his life in the United States, he never forgot his family in Cuba. He consistently sent medicine, essential supplies, and financial support to help them endure difficult conditions. His generosity never diminished.

Julio Borges built his life through perseverance and vision. He endured hardship, created opportunity, preserved his heritage through art, and changed the course of generations through discipline and sacrifice. His legacy lives on in his family, his work, and the values he instilled in all of us.

He will be remembered with deep respect, gratitude, and lasting love.
