June "Junie" Montella (née Dimock), age 80, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2026, in Novi, Michigan. She was a former resident of Olympia Fields, IL, Walnut Creek, CA, Livermore, CA, and San Antonio, TX.

Born on October 20, 1945, raised in Homewood, Illinois, she was the loving daughter of the late Helen (née Gasperec) and William E. Dimock. June lived a life filled with compassion, love, and joy that touched the hearts of all who knew her.

June graduated from Homewood-Flossmoor High School in 1963 and pursued her passion for nursing at the Lakeview Hospital School of Nursing, where she graduated in 1966. Her dedication to caring for others was evident throughout her career as a nurse. In May 1997, June was honored with the prestigious Florence Nightingale Award at the Golden State Rehabilitation Hospital—a testament to her exceptional commitment to her patients and her profession.

She was predeceased by her husband, John A. Montella, with whom she shared a life of love and devotion. She is survived by her son, John W. Montella; her siblings Paul (Roberta), Faith (George), and Marie (Joseph); as well as five nieces and nephews. Her legacy also includes 13 great-nieces and nephews and nine great-great-nieces and nephews.

June found joy in music, laughter through good jokes, and happiness in moments of fun shared with loved ones. With a heart always turned towards others, she thoughtfully crafted hand-stitched creations for those around her, each beautiful piece reflecting the love and generosity she shared so freely. Her compassionate spirit left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

June’s legacy is one of love and kindness—a life well-lived that will continue to inspire those who remember her fondly. May her memory bring comfort to all who mourn her passing. A Memorial Mass will be held on April 25, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. John Newmann Catholic Church 17951 Dixie Highway. Internment at Assumption Catholic Cemetery, Glenwood, Il.
