Junko Fujii Cartwright, born November 25, 1954, in Kyoto, Japan, died on April 6, 2026, in La Cañada Flintridge, California.
Junko was a remarkable wife, mother, and creator. Everything she did bore the mark of her intelligence, originality, and care. She had the rare ability to imagine something clearly and then bring it into being beautifully.
Her talents expressed themselves in countless ways. She designed and supervised construction of new spaces in the home, transformed the landscape around it, created more than one hundred distinctive ceramic works. Whether she was making art, designing a room, or planning a dinner, she gave herself fully to the task. If Junko did something, she wanted it done well.
She was a person of strong standards, deep abilities, and lasting impact. Her family knew her as someone remarkable in the truest sense of the word.
Junko is survived by her husband, Randy Cartwright; her daughter, Mariel Kinuko Cartwright; and her son, Elden Asobu Cartwright.
She will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered.
