Karen Marie Brooks, 65, passed away on January 21, 2026 in Seymour, Indiana. Born on November 17, 1960, Karen dedicated her life to caring for others in her role as a Registered Nurse, a career that was a testament to her intelligence and compassion. Karen's wit and humor were unmistakable traits that made her beloved by family and friends. She had a unique ability to light up a room with her smart, funny, and often sarcastic comments! An avid bingo player and skilled jewelry maker, Karen also enjoyed trivia, where her intellect was always on display. She received her early education at Saint Benedict, later graduating from Memorial High School, and receiving her nursing degree from the University of Southern Indiana. Karen's educational journey was marked by a pursuit of curiosity that she carried throughout her life. Karen is survived by her loving husband, Buck, her daughter, Kalee, her son Kolton, and her mother Ann Andersen.
She also leaves behind two sisters, Deb Peters (Mark) and Julie Clingan (Dave), nephew, Dylan Peters, uncle, Joe Rider, and cousins, Jennifer, Rebecca and Nick. She was preceded in death by her father, Bert Andersen and her grandparents, Beatrice and George Rider.
A ceremony to celebrate Karen's life will be held at a later date, allowing friends and family to celebrate her memory and spirit.
