Karen E. Brown, 82, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. A devoted mother, cherished sister, and dear friend, Karen will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and strength — qualities that defined her life and touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Born on July 25, 1943, in Newburgh, New York, Karen was the daughter of the late Clarence "Bud" Odell and Kathryn "Kay" Odell. She grew up alongside her brothers, the late Clarence "Chip" Odell and Kirk Odell, forming close family bonds that she carried with her throughout her life.
Karen's life was guided by compassion and a love for helping others. For many years, she dedicated her career to St. Joseph's Hospital, where she cared for patients with warmth and unwavering commitment until her retirement. Her colleagues and patients alike admired her gentle touch and the sincerity she brought to every interaction. After retiring, Karen embraced a new and deeply fulfilling chapter when she began caring for Colt as a nanny in 2007. This role reflected her natural nurturing spirit and brought her immense joy.
Beyond her work, Karen found happiness in life's simple pleasures. She loved to travel and cherished visits to Hawaii, Montana, and California — places that refreshed her spirit and filled her life with beautiful memories. Whether near home or afar, Karen had a gift for making each moment meaningful and brightening the lives around her.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Lisa Dickey and Diane(Sean)Snook, her brother, Kirk(Sally) Odell, her granddaughters Lacey, Lindy and Cheyanne and her three great grandchildren Merritt, Lucas and Miller.
Her life and legacy live on through them and all whose hearts she touched with kindness and love. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Clarence "Chip" Odell.
Though she faced challenges with courage and grace, Karen's unwavering spirit never dimmed. Her family and friends will forever remember her as a woman of strength, compassion, and deep affection — someone who gave selflessly and loved wholeheartedly.
Karen's life reminds us to embrace each day with gratitude and love. As she so often said, "Make every day count."
