Karen Gertrude "KC" Coley (née Pokorny), age 83, passed away peacefully at home in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, on December 3, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Born on December 9, 1941, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Karen was the daughter of Harold and Opal Pokorny. From a young age, she embodied an adventurous spirit and a zest for life—qualities that would shape her path and leave a lasting impression on all who knew her.

At the age of 18, Karen eloped with Lee O "Gene" Coley, the love of her life. Their marriage was the beginning of a lifelong journey filled with devotion, resilience, and shared adventures. Together they raised a family grounded in love and unity. In 1974, Karen and Gene made the bold decision to move their family to Southern California. Years later, Karen returned to Wisconsin—and true to her magnetic presence—her family followed her back.

Karen's life was marked by both profound joy and deep sorrow. She endured the heartbreaking loss of her beloved husband Gene 37 years ago and later mourned the passing of her son Bryan. Through these trials, she remained a pillar of strength and warmth for those around her.

She is lovingly remembered by her children: daughters Sharon and Shannon Coley; son Boyd Coley (Cindy); grandchildren Tim Coley (Holly), Sara Mork (Christian), Travis Coley, and Andrew Harvey (Chrissy); and as Gigi to her great-grandchildren Aubrey, Bryan, Colton, Silje, Ashelynn, and Orson. She is also remembered by her brothers Harold Pokorny (Gail) and Wayne Pokorny; brother-in-law Ben Coley (Tina); sisters-in-law Dorothy Coley and Joan Pokorny; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who knew her as sister-in-law, aunt—and always as "Mom."

Karen was preceded in death by her husband Gene; son Bryan Coley; parents Harold and Opal Pokorny; father- and mother-in-law Merle and Evie Coley; sister Barbara Oechsner (Gerry); brother Greg Pokorny; brother-in-law Winard Coley; and nieces Kathy Oechsner Rabe (Dave) and Peggy Oechsner.

Karen was known for her loving heart and fun-loving nature. She had a passion for playing cards and games—a pastime that brought laughter to countless family gatherings. Her spontaneous spirit led her on many adventures—from quick trips to Las Vegas to cross-country journeys. She never missed a family event or an opportunity to have fun. Just weeks before her passing, she was ready to jump in the car with Maxwell, the family dog—her latest in a long line of cherished furry companions—and as she put it, they were going to "fly down the road!"

Karen's life was one of compassion, spontaneity, humor, and enduring love. She is now reunited with Gene—the love of her life—and that brings peace to all who loved her.

May Karen's memory be a blessing to all whose lives she touched. A Memorial Service will be held on February 10, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Door Creek Church 6602 Dominion Dr. Madison, WI 53718
