Karen Denise Council

Karen "Denise" Council, 68, of Frederick, Maryland, passed away peacefully at Frederick Memorial Hospital on December 1, 2025. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, and her presence will be deeply missed.

Denise was born April 30, 1957 to Betty Lou Council and Wille Clifton Council in Newport News, Virginia. She was a lifelong resident of Hampton, Virginia for 50 years. She graduated from the Bethel High School class of 1975. She loved her family, history, trying new restaurants and movies in retirement.

Denise was preceded in death by her parents Betty Lou Council and Clifton Willie Council. She is survived by her two children Derrick Lowry and Sharon Sullivan, her grandchild Kaden Sullivan, her sisters Kim Coyle and Donna Adams, her brother Bryan Council, her nephew Zach Coyle, and her nieces Amy Richardson and Stacy Adams.

Keeney and Basford Funeral Homes is assisting the family 106 E Church Street Frederick, Maryland 21701. A celebration of life will be held in Newport News, Virginia in January for friends and family.
