Karen Jane Jones

Karen Jane Jones, beloved mother and Nana, passed away on February 15, 2026, in Jacksonville, Florida at the age of 77.

Karen was born in Oklahoma City in 1948 to Ross Carlton Jones and Betty Jo Jones. She graduated from Southeast High School in 1967 and was a member of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, an experience that helped shape her lifelong commitment to helping those around her.

Karen's career led her through many rewarding endeavors, but none held a more special place in her heart than her role as Director of Visitor Services at the Oklahoma City Zoo. She spoke of that time often and with great pride, cherishing the opportunity to create joyful experiences for families, something that came naturally to her.

Karen was known for her generous and creative spirit. She found joy in sewing, floral design, gardening, and painting, using her talents not only for herself but also to bless others. A gifted seamstress, she enjoyed teaching others to sew and lovingly made many garments for family and friends, including countless princess gowns during her granddaughters' childhoods. Whether creating something beautiful or offering a helping hand, Karen gave freely of her time without hesitation. Her kindness left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. She especially treasured time spent with her family, who were the light of her life and the greatest recipients of her love.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Ross Gonzales (Deb); Whitney Snyder (John); and Scot Ballard; her grandchildren, Taylor Snyder (Clayton McConnell); and Emily Snyder; her sisters, Janet Kennedy (Larry); and Donna Terry (Dale); her many nieces and nephews and extended family members. She will also be deeply missed by her dearest friend and soul sister, Karen Smith.
