Karen Charleen Kemp, affectionally known to many as Kae, Momma and Nanan, passed away unexpectantly at her home at the age of 64. She was born on November 26th, 1961, in St. Johns County to parents Judith Morris Bailey and Charlie Edward Kemp.
Karen was educated at St. Joseph's academy and would later go on to complete her bachelor's degree in business and finance. She was a lifelong resident of Florida, sharing her time between St. Augustine, Jacksonville and finally finding her permanent home in Bardin.
With an intense standing in her native background of Minorcan, Cherokee and Cree Indian blend, she found peaceful times at a family cabin in Cherokee, NC. Karen had a presence that could not be ignored, with an energy as strong as the tides. She was happiest when surrounded by nature, on the water and with her family. The essence of her being was rooted in the preservation of her family's heritage, which she instilled through the generations.
Karen is preceded in death by her mother, Judith, her father, Edward, her second mother, Brenda and her beloved baby brother, Keith. She is proceeded in life by her sister, Kim Kemp and brother, Kevin Kemp (Pam). Children: Kristen Osborne (Matthew), Trey Osborne (Amber) and Nichole Osborne (Gabriel). 9 grandchildren: Addy, Willie, Hunter, Nicholas, Janessa, Olivia, Roslyn, Liam and Marleigh and 3 great grandsons: Cash'mier, Lukah and Ryker. In addition to being part of the life of many grandparents, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends alike. She will be missed by many.
Karen will continue to be the colorful main character in many stories for years to come and will not soon be forgotten. In her own words, it's never goodbye but always see you later.
The family is holding a Celebration of Life in Karens honor. Please join them at Ravine Gardens, Palatka FL at 11:30am, on Sunday, January the 11th. All who would like to share in remembering Karen are welcome.
