Katherine J. Holmes, former Norfolk resident

Katherine (Kay) Holmes, 85, of Daytona Beach Shores died Sunday February 1st at her home in Florida. She was the wife of the late David Holmes of Norfolk.

Born in New York City on October 28, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Sonya (Nickonchick) Daley. She attended the Norfolk schools and graduated from King Philip Regional High School, class of 1958.

Katherine was a school bus driver for WT Holmes Transportation in Norfolk for many years. She eventually moved to Sunapee, NH with David and enjoyed the lake and the mountain. She enjoyed hosting all of her children and grandchildren which included boating in the summer and skiing in the winter. She worked many years at the Mount Sunapee rental shop and loved to provide skiing opportunities for her grandchildren. She was an active member of the Eagles in both Sunapee, NH and Daytona Beach Shores where she loved to play bingo and socialize.

She was a longtime member of the Norfolk Federated Church where she had married David. She was married for over 50 years and is survived by her three children David Holmes, Jr. of Daytona Beach, FL and Deborah Johnson of Manchester, NH and Ronald Holmes of Pelham, NH; her grandchildren Christine Moore of Seminole, FL, Andrew Holmes of Wrentham, MA, Erin Taylor of Walpole, MA, David T Holmes of Norwood, MA, Christopher Holmes of the Czech Republic, Jesse Johnson of Manchester, NH, and Kayla Johnson of Manchester, NH and 9 great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday February 28 from 3pm – 8pm at the Millis Amvets Post 45 in Millis, MA.
