Katherine Hanora Mahoney, born June 6, 1964, passed away on January 22, 2026, in Pasadena, California, after a year-long battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her devoted daughters and held in love until her final moments.

Katherine was raised in Wheat Ridge, Colorado by her loving parents, Katherine "Jill" and Dan Mahoney, alongside her younger brother, Phillip. She attended Holy Family Catholic school, where she developed a strong foundation of faith and community, values she carried throughout her life. From a young age, she loved horses and proudly competed in the Westernaires, nurturing a lifelong passion for riding.

Throughout her life, Katherine shared special bonds with her beloved animals. Her childhood dog, Belle, held a cherished place in her heart. At twelve, she purchased her first horse, Roo, beginning a lifelong equestrian journey. Later, she formed a deep connection with the family's Akita, Momo, a sweet and loyal companion.

Katherine loved reading, sewing, and creating. She often designed and made her own dresses for school dances and later attended art school, cultivating her artistic gifts. Her creativity, attention to detail, and appreciation for beauty influenced every chapter of her life - and she passed these gifts on to her daughters, each carrying them forward in her own way.

Katherine launched her career in advertising and marketing while raising her eldest daughter, Kaitlyn, working for Seiko Watches in New Jersey. In 1991, she married Hugh Taylor in Estes Park, Colorado, and settled in Cornwall-on-Hudson, New York, where they welcomed daughters Helen and Claire.

In 2000, Katherine accepted the position of Vice President of Marketing at Razor USA, bringing her family to Los Angeles. She lived in Sierra Madre and the surrounding communities for 25 years. In 2009, she purchased her dream home, a Queen Anne Victorian built in 1887 as one of Monrovia's first homes, lovingly restoring it over eleven years.

After retiring in 2016, Katherine embraced time with family and community. She loved traveling, celebrating birthdays and holidays with wine-tasting adventures, gathering with her book club at the Monrovia Library, and attending local historical society events. She proudly served as a board member for Focus on Book Arts (FOBA), supporting education in the book arts.

Above all, Katherine's greatest joy was her daughters, whom she loved with fierce, unwavering devotion. She was admired for her clever mind, quick wit, and warm sense of humor. Guided by a strong moral compass and her deep Catholic faith, she lived with kindness, generosity, and integrity. Katherine's elegance, creativity, and boundless love touched all who knew her, leaving a legacy that will endure in her family, friends, and community.

A celebration of Katherine's life will take place on March 8 in Arcadia, California, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory. She will be laid to rest on June 5 at Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery, followed by a reception at the Wheat Ridge Recreation Center, where stories, laughter, and shared memories will continue to celebrate the remarkable life she lived.
