Kathleen Theresa Bacich, 94, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026. Kathleen, known to many as “Kitty,” was born on August 29, 1931, in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of James and Nora Mahon, both Irish immigrants.

Kathleen graduated from Catherine McAuley Commercial School in Brooklyn in 1949. She married John Bacich in 1953, shortly after his honorable discharge as a naval officer and service in the Korean War. After living in Long Island for a time, they and their 5 children relocated to Brookfield in 1969. Kathleen was a homemaker first and foremost but later worked part time at the Brookfield Craft Center, and then the Danbury Public Library. She was a devout Catholic and lived her faith through involvement with countless community and parish volunteer endeavors over the years. More recently, she enjoyed being part of the prayer shawl ministry and the knitting group at St. Marguerite’s Church. She enjoyed telling stories about her early life as a Brooklynite, as well as reading (especially poetry), baking, knitting, quilting, scrapbooking, and gardening---and really most anything that brought joy and love to others.

Kathleen is grandmother to Ali, Jordan, Hillary, Shannon, and Matthew, and great grandmother to Johnny Rex, Raven, Cameron, Isla, and Amelia Jane.

Kathleen is survived by her daughters, Cathy, Nancy, and Jaqueline, all of New York City, and a son, Christopher, of Brookfield. She is predeceased by her husband of 62 years, John, and a daughter, Lisa.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, February 16, at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church, 138 Candlewood Lake Road, Brookfield, followed by a brief reception. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory can be made to the Brookfield Lions Club or a local charity of your choice. Kathleen’s family is grateful to the staff at Filosa Havencare for their kind and professional care in the final weeks of her life.
