Ms Kathleen (Kitty) Carr Hess, aged 82, passed away Sunday, December 7, 2025 in West Allis, Wisconsin. She was born February 14, 1943 in New York City.
Kitty was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Hess, and her son, Glenn Hess. She is survived by her daughters Valerie Hess (Bobby Burke), Jennifer Hess (Ralph Gundrum), her son Michael Hess and her furriest (dog) child Mickey. She is also survived by grandchildren Katherine Hess Gaffney (Mark Gaffney), Glenn Hess (Angela Stevens-Hess), Jason Hess (Hannah Larson), Allison Hess (Cree Faber), Emma Gundrum, Alex Gundrum, Marquise Gundrum and Matthew Hess. She was also blessed with great grandchildren Jonathan Hess, Lillian Hess, Evelyn Hess, Jacky Gaffney, Luci Gaffney, Bella Hess and River Hess.
After growing up in New York, Kitty moved to Hamilton, Ohio to raise her family. She was active in the community and was especially grateful for the many friendships she developed there. In 2008, she moved to Wisconsin to help raise some of her grandchildren. She loved to spend time with her kids and grandkids, and shared her many talents of cooking, sewing, crocheting and painting. She could find a four-leaf clover with her eyes closed and she was the master of Wildwood beach-combing. She could heal anyone with her chicken soup or spaghetti, and delight everyone with her almost world-famous meatloaf. She loved watching the performances of her grandkids as much as seeing Barbra Streisand or Ava Max. She excelled at playing go-go's, painting theater sets, creating clothing for special bears and playing hockey. She was the best Mom and Grandma that we could ask for.
Kitty wanted to extend a special thanks to the Gundrum family who welcomed her in and made her feel at home. She also extends thanks to the caregivers at Aurora West Allis and Ruth's hospice house. She leaves us with the following advice: "Watch the tramcar please! TA-DA!"
