Kathleen Mae Pastir, aged 90, passed away on January 8, 2026, in her home in Louisville, KY, surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 27, 1935, in Essex, England, Kathleen lived what she called a "great life". A sweet woman loved by all who met her. She lived a full life, characterized by her devotion to family, friends, community, and faith.
Kathleen served in the Royal Air Force from 1953 to 1957. She then met and married Michael E. Pastir, who was serving in the US Air Force, stationed in her home town Walton-on-Naze, England, in 1957. They moved to Ohio in 1959 and built a life with 4 children. She proudly became a Naturalized US Citizen in 1978 and was a true patriot.
Kathie was predeceased by her husband, Michael E. Pastir, in 1984; her daughter, Lynette Pastir, in 2019; her mother, Kathleen (Kit) Gough; her siblings, Doug Gough, Jackie Biggadike, and Corrine Gough; and many in-laws. She is survived by her children, Sharon Kemp (John), Michelle Reynolds (Randy), and Michael Pastir (Jennifer). Kathleen's legacy continues through her five grandchildren, David, Jacqueline (Bradley), Rebecca (Frank), Amanda (Mike) and Mya, and her five great-grandchildren, Liam, Juliet, Benjamin, Logan and Jillian, and numerous nieces and nephews both in the United States and England.
Kathleen's hobbies included knitting, sewing, reading, and movies. She loved travel, a good game of cards and going to the theatre. She often shared these loves with her children and grandchildren. She was dedicated to service and community. Kathie's volunteer work was extensive and an important part of her life. Teaching remedial reading to grade school children, Brownie Troop Leader and active PTA member while her children were young. In her retirement years she was a volunteer receptionist for Kent State University Alumni Center, delivered Meals on Wheels and knitted prayer shawls for her church. Her true commitment was to "her soldiers"! She packed boxes and knitted helmet liners for soldiers for the USO and was a proud active member of the USO since 2005.
