Kathy Anne Schermerhorn, 66, of Berlin, NY passed away peacefully on March 19th 2026, surrounded by loving family. Born on March 8th,1960 Kathy lived a life marked by kindness, strength, a deep love for family and God.

Kathy was a helping, hardworking woman of God whose life was defined by compassion, faith and independence. She gave of herself freely, always giving a hand, offering a prayer, or showing up when someone needed her most. Her devotion to her family, church, and community was unwavering. She lived her faith not just in words but in the countless acts of kindness she carried out every day. Those who knew her will remember her spirit, her resilience, and the way she made others feel seen, supported, and loved. Her presence made life brighter for everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

She spread her smile the majority of her career years working at RPI creating beautiful landscapes before working in security and transportation. She also shared these talents and compassions at the Grafton State Park, Vanderhyden Hall and The Unity House before retiring to enjoy one of her greatest passions, spending time with her beloved grandson, Dylan. Kathy played a part winning the 1974 Class D Girls Championship and received multiple sports awards. She extended her talent and fondness for sports, as she went on to coach Taconic Valley Soccer and Berlin Basketball. She shared her devotion for God thru teaching Pioneers club, numerous VBS, youth groups, camp counseling, CFO, street ministry, and rescue missions. Kathy found joy in spending time outdoors gardening, kayaking, biking, hiking, snow shoeing, and cross-country skiing. Playing cards with friends especially Skip-bo. Kathy took pleasure in traveling near and far to visit friends, enjoy the ocean, and fulfill lifelong desires such as exploring the Grand Canyon and The Promise Land where she was baptized in the Holy Water of the Jordan River. Above all, Kathy cherished moments with family be it shared exploring, around the table especially eating chicken wings, movies and popcorn, and getting ice cream together- ALL will be remembered with gratitude.
