Kathy Vranjes

Kathy Vranjes born Katica Marinovic passed away peacefully December 16, 2025, at age 91. She was born in Split, Croatia to Josip and Marija Marinovic. She grew up in Makarska Croatia and attended university in Zagreb. She immigrated to the United States in 1959 to join her beloved husband Miro who predeceases her.

Kathy worked alongside her husband managing their photography studios which they owned in downtown Mountain View and another in Cupertino. They contracted with local high schools for senior photos, proms, also did weddings and other professional photography services. Kathy lived in Sunnyvale for 40 years, raised two children and was an active member in Quota Club, Napredak Club, and the Croatian Church.

After they retired the photo studios she took courses to learn current methods in accounting which was her major in Zagreb. She then did the payroll administration for Kaiser Hospital in Santa Clara for many years.

Upon retiring she travelled back to Croatia multiple times, visited other European countries and travelled as far as Australia and New Zealand.

Kathy was proud of her Croatian heritage and traditions. She enjoyed baking, gardening, swimming and singing Croatian songs along side her husband who played multiple instruments. Family events would always end with music and singing. Known to many as "Noni", she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She had an unconditional love for family and instilled the importance of living with integrity and compassion.

Kathy will be deeply missed by her cherished children Edie Halenbeck and Paul Vranjes (Anita), and loving grandchildren, Sean Halenbeck (Meredith), Gina Kuh (Brad), Holly Halenbeck, Sebastian, Sabrina and Savanna Vranjes, and great grandsons, Jameson Halenbeck and Dawson Kuh. Kathy is also mourned by her family and friends in Croatia.

To honor Kathy's life a memorial service will be held on January 9, 2026, 11:00am at Gate of Heaven Chapel in Los Altos with inurnment. Followed by a Celebration of Life luncheon at the Parkview restaurant and ballroom in the Juniper Hotel in Cupertino.
